THE DREADED ELECTRICAL

MAZDA CONTROL

INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
SO THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  USES ( CAN ) COMMUNICATION TO WORK.  THE STRATEGY THAT WE USE IS TO CAUSE THE MAZDA COMPUTER SYSTEM TO READ THE SAME SIGNALS IT HAD ON THE FACTORY ENGINE AND ADAPT THEM TO THE NEW ENGINE.

           1. LS ENGINES
WE SIMPLY REMOVE THE ALLEN HEADED BLOCK OFF SCREW FROM THE REAR OF THE PASSENGER CYLINDER HEAD (OPPOSITE OF THE LS COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR LOCATION AND INSERT THE MAZDA COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR INTO THE HEAD.
NOW YOU CAN RUN THE MAZDA COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR CONNECTOR TO THAT MAZDA COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR TO THE FACTORY MAZDA PCM (SAME AS FACTORY BUT THE WIRE OBVIOUSLY LENGTHENED ACCORDING. ( DOING THIS I RECOMMEND JUST SIMPLY CUTTING THE MAZDA PIGTAIL OFF THE ENGINE HARNESS AND THE MAZDA PCM CONNECTORS AND ADDING WIRE AS NEEDED BETWEEN THEM TO GET TO THE NEW LOCATION ON THE LS ENGINE.

      2. FOR THE CRANK SENSOR YOU WILL REPLICATE THE WIRING STRATEGY AS THE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR BUT THIS TIME USING OUR TRIGGER WHEEL SENSOR MOUNT TO MOUNT THE CRANK SENSOR TO READ MY MACHINED BALANCER.
SIDE AFFECTS FROM THIS CAUSES THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING TO BE ACTIVATED. 


3. THE MPH GAUGE NOTHING IS NECESSARY FOR IT TO WORK AS THE ABS MODULE SENDS THE SIGNAL TO THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND CAN REMAIN THE SAME AS FACTORY

THE FUNCTIONS THAT YOU LOOSE INCLUDE
  • TRACTION CONTROL AND LIGHT
  • CRUSE CONTROL (CAN BE ADDED BUT PARTS SOLD IN THE AFTERMARKET SUCH AS DAKOTA DIGITAL)
  • STABILITY CONTROL
  • CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FUNCTION (IN ORDER FOR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO FUNCTION YOU WILL HAVE TO MODIFY THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER)
  • BATTERY LIGHT

THE ELECTRONIC POWER-STEERING 
NOW WHAT ABOUT THE EPS OR ELECTRONIC POWER-STEERING

SO YOU WILL LEAVE THE ELECTRICAL SAME AS FACTORY FOR THE EPS

HOWEVER YOU WILL HAVE TO REWIRE THE MAIN POWER AND GROUND FEED WIRES AS THEY WERE CONNECTED TO THE BATTER CABLES THAT ARE NOW REMOVED

  • YOUR POWER WIRE *WHITE* CAN BE ROUTED TO THE BATTER POST ON THE FUSE BOX.
  • THE GROUND WIRE *BLACK* CAN BE GROUNDED TO THE CHASSIS 
WHAT ABOUT ABS *ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM
THE MOUNTING WILL HAVE TO BE REMOVED FOR ENGINE CLEARANCE BUT CAN REMAIN BETWEEN THE ENGINE AND SHOCK TOWER

NOTHING ELECTRICAL IS NEEDED TO WORK AS DESIGNED

**THIS IS WHERE THE SPEED SIGNAL COMES FROM SO IF YOU DECIDE YOU DONT NEED ABS THE MPG GAUGE WILL NOT FUNCTION**

USING THE LS ENGINE I RECOMMEND USING THE GM PCM TO CONTROL THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

  • A TUNER TO REMOVE SECURITY (OR THE ENGINE WILL CRANK AND DIE)
